Worship Bulletin

Thank you, First Church!

Dear Friends,

How do I begin to say “thank you” to all the people that sent cards and made phone calls to us.  On June 1st my husband fell and afterwards I started to have hip problems.  It has been a long 5 months but we are improving. Thank you for the visits, cards, hugs, phone calls and prayers.

Blessings, Chris & Mike Preister.

You are invited to an informal fellowship gathering to meet Mark and Deirdre Zimmerman

The Zimmermans are UMC Global Ministries missionaries to Nepal. The Zimmerman’s have recently retired from the mission field, and they desire to thank each of the churches that supported their mission over the past 30+ years. They will share their experiences and give us some insight on how God is mightily at work in Nepal and all over the world.

This event is an opportunity for us to thank and honor the Zimmerman’s and elevate our passion to Connect, Ignite and Shine for the glory of God!

  • Sunday, November 19th in the Family Life Center
  • 5:30 pm light meal will be provided
  • 6:00 - 7:00 pm Presentation by Mark and Deidre followed by a time for Q&A
  • Questions can be directed to John and Lynn Hostetler (717) 504-9022

Maddie Harmon’s Update on Clothing and Cleaning Supplies in honor of tackling hunger month: I have been collecting donations for hungry hearts ministry and the clothing room for my all star gives back project through my cheer organization! I am so happy to say that the bins at the church and at my cheer gym are being filled rapidly! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated. I am so grateful! I am also happy to say that I have found a generous donor who is willing to donate $200 if we collect 200 donations! So for the last week let’s keep pushing to meet that goal!

GriefShare -

A 13-week GriefShare Support group will start at First Church Monday, September 11, 2023, at 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. For more information or to register, call Gail at 717-263-8491 ext. 207.

How will GriefShare help you?  When a loved one dies, it can feel like you’re alone.  Few people understand how painful and isolating your grief can be.  But that doesn’t mean you have to suffer by yourself. At GriefShare, you’ll find a safe, comforting place where you can talk with others about your grief.  You’ll find support, direction, and guidance on how to make it through.

What are your plans this holiday season? If the thought of Thanksgiving traditions and Christmas trees brings feelings of loneliness, sadness, or despair I encourage you to come to the "Surviving the Holidays", which is being offered in person at First United Methodist Church, 225 South Second Street, Chambersburg on November 5th at 3:00 pm.  For more information you can call 717-263-8491 and ask for Gail.
